Earlier this year, Jacksonville College trustees began the search for a new president of the two-year school, and elected Dr. Joe Lightner to the position April 29, 2021. Current president, Dr. Mike Smith, will be officially retiring July 15, 2021. Lightner has a distinguished background of pastoring growing churches and serving as an executive leader in parachurch ministries. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Doctor of Ministry degree from Liberty University and will complete a doctorate degree in biblical ministries from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He also has a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of Arkansas, and business experience that has strengthened the ministries that he has served.
